What is NooDs Max Continuous Forward Current Rating

Post by brad92103 »

Hi,

AdaFruit has lot of nice technology but I am an electrical engineer and I am find it annoying that I have to post on this forum to get information that should be provided in a data sheet attached with the part description. I do not like to wait and see if someone will respond to my post.

I am evaluating NooDs for an application in which I need maximum brightness. I need to know what is the rated maximum continuous If, forward current. I have a constant current source working off minimal voltage needed to light a Vf = 3V LED. At 18mA I am disappointed in the brightness. I guess I will keep turning the current up and if it burns out, I will send it back and request a full refund.

The product page mentions 50mA in relation to the limiting resistor:
you only need 3V to light 'em up - we recommend current limiting with a resistor to let max 50mA through.
