KB2040 Power Light doesn't come on, but board appears to work?

Post by azzywazzy »

Hi all, please bear with me as I'm very new when it comes to electronics etc!

I've got 2x KB2040 boards (the pink ones) that I've acquired to put into a split keyboard build and flash with QMK. That all appears to be fine, but I had a question about the difference I've seen in the boards.

On one of them, the power led illuminates up green and on the other, it doesn't light up at all. Is this a flaw? Or something that I can adjust in the firmware somehow? I tried to have a search around and couldn't turn anything up. The Neopixels work fine, it's just the power LEDs. They were this way both with whatever firmware shipped on them, and since flashing with QMK.

Any thoughts?

It should light up (and there's no software way to change that) since it's hardwired between 3.3v and ground (with a current limiting resistor). If it's not lighting then the LED and/or resistor is bad or either there's a bad connection on one/both of them.

Do you get a USB connection to the board whose NeoPixel doesn't light up?
