It’s getting a little cutoff on the right where the laser ground is

Wired like that, both LED and laser should only come on when the toggle switch is ON and the momentary button is pressed.

Is your momentary button also rated for at least 2A? If you are using it to switch the laser, it should be rated to handle that.

Any idea what might cause the led to light when the toggle switch is off?
Is there anything I can check? I’m using one of those small 6mm tactile switches

Based on your diagram, there is no other path to ground which would be necessary for current to flow through the LED.

But that assumes that the momentary switch has not been damaged by the high current requirements of the laser.

Switching high currents can result in the switch contacts getting 'arc-welded' together so that the switch never completely opens again.

Thanks
It did this even before I hooked the laser up to the circuit. However perhaps I have damaged the switch with my barbaric soldering skills 😂

I have a 3 amp rated switch so I will hook it up to see if I get the same results

Ok my mistake the led was on the wrong side of the switch power
Once i made that change it no longer lights when I connect the battery
The diagram is correct I had the led wired wrong
However when I turn on the power switch the led flashes once and goes off until I press the momentary then it will stay on. I haven’t hooked up the 3 amp momentary switch but since it’s on the ground will the amperage make a difference?

Yes. The same current needs to flow all the way from the power switch through to the ground.

Question
Is there a way to make the led rapidly flicker? I’ve seen some posts about adding a transistor to get a candle effect but I’m looking for something more rapid

You could try wiring the LED & resistor between one set of the + & - speaker terminals. That would make the LED flicker in sync with the sound.

So would that be before the led+resistor connects to the momentary switch?

No. The LED would just connect to the + and - speaker terminals.

Oh
So does that mean the led would no longer light when the momentary is pressed? Instead it would light at power on and then flicker with the audio?
