Neopixel on Scorpio- is a resistor needed on data line?

Post by Mikey75075 »

I am putting together my first project on Scorpio for a number of Neopixel strands. Is the 330ohm resistor on the data line still recommended with Scorpio?

The 300 ohm resistor was for the earlier WS2812 versions. The resistor is no longer necessary with modern NeoPixels.
Today’s NeoPixels are fairly robust, but if you have early ones or some “WS2812-compatible” parts, it’s advisable to add a 300–500 Ohm resistor between the microcontroller’s output pin and the NeoPixel input.

FYI there's an inline resistor (100 ohms) on each SCORPIO output!
