Adafruit 1.8" TFT shield MicroSD and Joystick white screen, no display

Post by cw_orange »

Hi,

I'm working with the Arduino UNO R3 and the Adafruit 1.8" TFT V2 shield.

Libraries installed:
Adafruit GFX Library
Adafruit_Bus I/O
Adafruit ST7735 Library
Adafruit seesaw Library

Result:
seesaw started
Version: 24FF
TFT OK!
Initializing SD card...failed

But I get only a white screen with no display => no chance when pressing the buttons.

So I tried some other tests:
graphic test
graphic test_pybadge_pygamer (Option 2)
Also white screen und no display.

Any suggestions?

Thx
Felix

Can you post a photo of your setup. Just to verify the soldering or anything unusual.

Since you get a working display and no SD card can you tell me more about the specs on the SD card and how it was formatted?

I have a microSD card formatted in FAT32 with 4GB. I use .bmp files with 24bit RGB and 128x160 Pixel or 48x48 Pixel, stored all in the root. The shield has a microSD card reader, which I use.

Try going over the soldering one more time with an iron (all pins). The pins in the top right corner Digital I/O 0-7 look like cold joints kinda of blobby and not fully melted.

Looking at your board photo you soldered the ICSP header on the wrong side. That black 2x3 (6-pin) connector (far right in your photo) is supposed to be face down so you have access to the SPI pins.
