1.2" 4-Digit 7-Segment Display with decimal points

Post by kwolf1909 »

Hello,
I'm using this 7-seg backpack, product-ID 1269, and I wonder why this display doesn't have decimal points.
Will there be an enhanced version in the near future?
Otherwise for example showing some values like 20,8 degrees shows incomplete.
The driver chip would make this possible, but maybe an appropriate display is not available?
Regards Klaus

Looking at the Arduino guide page for this device it appears that 0x10 sets the decimal point.

Code: Select all

0x10 - decimal point (upper right)

Problem with Recent Purchase 3/22/2023

This RED 1.2" 7 segment and Backpack are both well made and ideal for our project and will require 15 copies.

Our problem - after 5 hours of run time updating a time display every 1/2 second the display died - went dark. While running, this was a perfect solution.

The backpack is connected to an ESP32.

I have verified that both 5.0v (from ESP32 vin) and V_io 3.3v (from ESP32 3.3) are present at the backpack, and that valid SCL & SDA signals (scope) are also being presented to the backpack.

I would like to return the 7 segment & backpack (soldered together) for credit and obtain replacements ASAP!
The replacements could be either the same (I'm assuming this is NOT a common problem ) RED 1.2" 7-Segment or a RED 1" 7-Segment with a backpack using the same chip

We want this to work!

Please let me know ASAP how we can fix this.
