okay, makes sense. How do I fix the issue? Not sure if it's a software issue or if I should just return the product as defective.

It's a software issue. If you look at the previous replies, I mentioned that there's already a bug open at https://github.com/adafruit/Raspberry-P ... issues/235.

I’m having the same problem one month later. I bought, assembled and installed the Pi-Hole Kit and it’s working perfectly on my network to kill ads.

But then I started to work on getting the included Mini PiTFT - 135x240 Color TFT working and had the same problem documented in this thread.

Here’s a picture of my screen, and it looks like what others have recorded:

( I previously posted this issue to the wrong forum:)

So i have two questions:

(1) One month later… is there now a fix for this problem?

(2) If not, if I replace this screen with the square version Adafruit Mini PiTFT 1.3" - 240x240 TFT, or the Adafruit PiTFT 2.2" HAT Mini Kit, will either work correctly?

Adafruit PiTFT 2.2" HAT Mini Kit - 320x240 2.2" TFT - No Touch

Thanks,

Rob

Hi,

1. I just wrapped up the last of several other big projects I was in the middle of working on yesterday and am working on the Raspberry Pi display issues today, so if you can wait just a little longer, hopefully I can make a fix available soon.

2. Yes, I have heard from others that the square one does work fine for some reason.

Great! Can I be notified when it’s available?

Thanks,

Rob

I updated the driver itself and just merged my pull request, so it should be working now.

Thank you for the fix! I re-ran the updated procedure described here, but I still seem to have the same issue.

Do I need to run st7789_module/reload.sh manually?

Edit: entirely my fault. Looks like `git clone https://github.com/adafruit/Raspberry-P ... cripts.git` failed because the `Raspberry-Pi-Installer-Scripts` directory existed and then `adafruit-pitft.py` blanked my screen so I didn't see it. Deleting the directory and re-running everything worked perfectly.

Awesome. The reload.sh was just a convenient script I added for reloading the driver after I made changes to the source code.
