breadboard update changed hole size

Post by kwidder »

We recently purchased five breadboards (part 4539) to evaluate for use in a kit for our students. The information on the web site said it could use M2 or #2 screws. The boards we received would not accept #2 screws. Was that change intentional? If so, please update the web site to reflect that change. If not intentional, will the board change to allow #2 screws or remain as it is?

we did change suppliers to get premium breadboard clips, here's the spec sheet of what we're currently selling!

It claims #2 or M@, but on the parts we received #2 don't fit.

are your screws 2.4mm or smaller diameter? #2 wood screws are not the same size as #2 machine screws

My estimation (without a good tool to measure it) of the hole size is about 0.073", which is way off from the 0.09" they spec.

They are machine screws. I measured the diameter of one using a caliper and it measured at 0.0815" or 2.04 mm, and it doesn't fit. Is it possible for someone there to try a #2 screw in one of the current boards?

we dont have a #2 handy but we did measure with calipers and its 1.92mm (altho the calipers dont fit super well)

we dont have any other breadboards so there's no replacing them, you can email support@adafruit for a refund if they are not usable - or drill them out, thats the only options

We may have to use M2 screws unless we can find something else. Do you know if this product will remain as is, or is there a potential that it would change in the near future to match the spec in the drawing. My biggest issue is just knowing that so we can plan the proper hardware in the kits we put together this summer for the students next year.
