Huzzah 32 Cap touch sensors erratic on battery

Post by playablestreets »

Hi all! - First time posting but long time fan of Adafruit, I am working on a project using the cap sense pins on the Huzzah 32 connected via usb to Rapberry Pi 3. (the sensors are wires connected to a variety of plants.)
we also have the 20w adafruit amp connected to speakers and
the whole system is running off a large power station for the 12v amp and micro usb power for the Pi
(https://www.companionoutdoor.com/rover- ... er-station)

we have 12 identical set ups in a city environment (busy with trams and cars etc) and the sensors are going crazy (one or two are working fine), we had the exact same setup in a second story studio last week with a much better result.

I have tried a few fixes including:
- changing out cables
- moving components away from each other
- running the gnd from the pi to a stake in the ground

some notes:
- this set up has worked well before using pi4 and a different (generic) ESP32
- some work much better than others in the same location

wondering if there is anyone out there that has had similar issues or has suggestions for fixes?

Thanks in advance!

Increase the distance between the sensors and other electrical components: Electromagnetic interference can be caused by other electrical devices in close proximity to your setup. Try moving your sensors away from other electrical components, and see if that helps improve the performance.
