64x32 Matrix is Defective and Glitching Out

Post by aclapp6849 »

I know of others with the same issue.
Installed circuit python and ran a few different projects. Below are the default sand fall and the co2 monitor projects. Pixels just seem to hang and most just flicker. I've tried different power supplies as well.

Just received everything today too, 4/28

Arrived today and already setup. You are quick.

Can you run the simpletest UF2 with no sensors attached.

What have you tested for the external power supplies?

Same issues as before with simpletest uf2 with no sensors attached.
Getting pixel tearing across the lettering.

I've been using both Samsung phone chargers with 2.5 amp output and the steamdecks usbc charger at 3 amps. Is it a power supply issue?

Yes, this look like a power supply issue that we have seen many times. The chargers normally do not work for powering these panels.

This is the recommended power supply for a 64x32.

If you have another 5V @ 4A or higher current power supply to test with that is not designed as a USB charger that would be worth trying.

After receiving the power supply you had mentioned I am still encountering the same issue with different projects of pixels just acting sporadic and changing colors in some cases.

Thank you for trying the recommended power supply.

Do you want to try a replacement matrixportal or RGB panel? When the simpletest can't run correctly with the recommended setup it is time to start swapping hardware.

Okay, please email [email protected] to request a replacement panel. They will need a link to this forum thread as authorization and the your order#. Let us know how this works out.

Did a replacement panel resolve your issues?

I apologize, I guess I should've read the entire email. I just now put in the replacement order.

I just received the replacement matrix portal (item id:4745) and ran the above tests. Still having the exact same issues, so I suppose it's in the RGB LED matrix rather than the portal.

Did you re-run simpletetst to confirm that still has garbage on it with the original MatrixPortal?

If simpletest does not work then we can try swapping out the Matrix Portal.
