Thank you for the RE-simpletest now with more photos.

Are you able to power your matrix with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C power source? I saw static on mine when using a USB-A <--> USB-C hub off my PC. I did not get any static when using my monitor or wall wart which are both USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C.

No, I'm sorry but I'm not able to do that as I'm using the power supply you recommended to use originally in the above post.

I realize you are using the 4A power supply, but in your photos there appears to be a USB-C connection as well to a PC. Can you remove that as it can be the source of noise.

I'm sorry at this point I'm confused. After you recommended using the 4amp switchable power supply that's all I've been using to power the board.

Thanks for the photo. You are use the Adafruit barrel to USB-C adapter. This should be able to deliver the necessary current, but I am concerned by the symptoms looking power related since I can reproduce the same kind of artifacts on this panel using simpletest.UF2 with an underpowered USB setup.

Do you not have a high power USB-C port and cable you can try to power the MatrixPortal + Panel with?

Other than the 4amp power supply I purchased, no.

I'm sorry for recommending the 5V @ 4A power supply with USB adapter for this setup. That seemed like a usable setup, but it is clear it is not going to work. We do use that power supply with the 64x32 on the Pi's, but it doesn't carry over with the USB type C adapter.

This is the power supply I tested my 64x32+MatrixPortal with. It is a 65W USB PD wall plug and I'm using a 100W USB PD cable type C on both ends to power the MatrixPortal.

We can arrange for a refund for the power supply and USB-C adapter to barrel adapter.

Please email support for refund/return on the USB-C adapter and the power supply. Provide them with this forum link and order number and they will be able to process the rest.

I have two recently purchased LED Boards and Matrix Portals. Boards do not light up and connections solid. Third board/matrix portal purchased 2+ years ago works fine using exact same code.

Is this an LED board issue or Matrix Portal issue?

@jkdrucker,

Please start a new thread so we can review the details of your setup (power supply, connections and code). Your boards not lighting up is something completely different.

So after receiving the new charger and cable, gave simple test a try and everything seemed alright. I then went back and tested the Matrix Portal CO2 Monitor code and everything started bugging out again. I then went back to simpletest and found "bugging" pixels across the top edge. I'll send pictures of both codes soon. What was supposed to be a simple project for my wall has becoming beyond ridiculous.

These images in particular the simpletest do look like a significant improvement from where we started, but they should not have any artifacts.

The only remaining thing to try is the MatrixPortal, correct?

You can email [email protected] to request a replacement MatrixPortal. They will need a link to this forum thread and your order# for that part.
