No com port for Grand Central M4 in Windows 10

Post by jimk572 »

Really excited to receive my new Grand Central M4 from you folks. Tried communicating in Windows 7 with drivers with no com port showing in Device Manager. Upgraded my machine to Win 10 and tried again with the same result. Tried 2 cables with no effect. Tried on my Win 11 laptop with no result. Bought another GC M4 from Amazon and tried it with the same result. So, in summary, 2 different M4's, 2 different cables, Windows 10 or 11, no com port ever shows in Device manager. I will add, in all cases, green power LED is on and status light is blinking green. Where can I go from here?

further to the above, I noticed another post where the author had tried a third cable and it worked. So I bought two more cables, and - sure enough - now it works. As he said " STUPID CABLES!" Cheers to all.
