How to Mount & Expose VEML7700 Outside?

Post by AlanWx »

I am eager to use the VEML7700 outside, but I have not seen any documentation or forum posts on how to actually expose the diode in the outside environment. I could place the board (all or part of it) under glass, but wouldn't any shielding material like glass/plastic attenuate the readings? What is the usual way of exposing these sensors?

You can protect it with a piece of high quality optical glass. Fused quartz microscope slide covers are a good option In any case for best accuracy, you will want to calibrate your sensor with the protective glass in place.

Bill...Thank you!...That is a great idea. I will look at using the fused quartz glass as a cover and then go from there. Much appreciated!...Alan
