PID: 4563 out of focus

Post by AlMac »

I ordered a PID: 4563 Wide Angel Lens. It is a fixed focal length lens but
it will not create an in-focus image. I used it on a Raspberry Pi camera but
the image was blurry. I borrowed a C-mount lens from work and captured a
good image from the Pi Camera. I then borrowed a C-mount camera from work
and mounted the 4563 on it. The image was not in focus. It looks like the
optics inside the housing is out of alignment. I would like to return this
lens for a replacement.

Can you post pictures of the lens from both sides? Also, have you checked for lens protection film on the optics? When did you purchase it and do you have the package?

Hello,
There is no protect film on either end of the lens. The lens is supplied with lens caps.
I do have the original packaging.

we dont have one on our desk (its sunday) but we're not sure its fixed focus. adjusting the knobs doesn't change the image? you can use raspistill to have it stream 'video' while you tweak the focus

As mentioned in my original post, I borrowed a c-mount camera from work (video) and tried this lens. The image was blurry. You can adjust the aperture and the zoom with the two rings (knobs) but not the focus.
If I shake the lens I can hear something rattling inside. I think one of the elements came loose.

I have already emailed support@ twice and they directed me back to this forum each time.
I will try again.
Thank you for your reply.
