Pico W - IC Getting Really Hot

Post by J_Anthracite »

I just got two Pico W from adafruit and after using one for a little while getting it set up and programming a simple webpage that let's you see what the temperature is I noticed the little 14 pin IC next to the USB port was really hot. I never used the gpio pins and this happens while being powered by USB. It's still working but I'm afraid it won't last as hot as that chip is getting. I tried the other one I got and while it gets slightly warm it seems to be working as it should.

The problematic pico starts getting hot after just a few seconds of being plugged in.

Let's go ahead and replace this since it seems to be abnormally hot compared to your other Pico W.

Please email [email protected] and request a replacement. They will need your order# and this forum link as authorization.
