Ring Display with LED Ring Light PCB

Post by demetriusjmatthews »

I am not an electronics human, but I’m willing to try. I need help in creating a ring display.

I want to use 8 to 12 Cool White LED Ring Light PCB - 70mm Diameter - 5V Power
Product ID: 5138 in a jewelry display/box.

1. I need a small switch that turns the lights on when the display lid is open/off when closed. Ideally the switch would be as inconspicuous as possible. I can route out a section of the box to hide as much of the switch as possible.

2. I need to reduce the power to dim the lights or reduce the heat, because as the description of the ring light states, the light “will get hot”. What device should be used to dim and/or reduce the heat.

3. I also want to include rechargeable batteries in the base of the display so the box doesn’t need to be constantly plugged in. Is this possible, and if so, how many batteries are needed?

Is this project doable? What is the total equipment needed? How would this concept be wired up to work?
