Hey,
I ordered 4 Audio FX Sound Boards with 16 MB and none of these is recognized as flash memory, tried 8 different cables (some of them 100% working for data) and two different Thinkpads with Win10, Ubuntu and Linux Mint.
Same as here: viewtopic.php?t=147240 and viewtopic.php?t=165819
The sound boards always show up as VS1000B audio device, green and red led lighting up. None of them as flash storage, so I can't even flash a new image. I need these really urgent for an art installation which is the project for my exams end of June, can anyone help?
Is there another similar product I can order somewhere as fast as possible?

Do you have the "WO" number from the packaging?

Yes, it's W22286-D unter the bigger barcode and P2220 under the smaller barcode in the right upper side of the bag. At least those are the only numbers I can find.

Any ideas to get this working with usb_modeswitch? It's really urgent... 😬

No info yet, so let's replace them. Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of four AudioFX boards as shown on the order.

Alright, that doesn't sound like a good quality control if your company sells boards that don't work and doesn't know why they don't work...
A friend found this in the datasheet of the VS1000 for me: "The firmware uses the USB peripheral to implement both USB Mass Storage Device and USB Audio Device. Which device is activated depends on the state of GPIO0_6 when the USB connection is detected. If GPIO0_6 has a pull-up resistor, VS1000 appears as an USB Audio Device. If GPIO0_6 has a pull-down resistor, VS1000 appears as an USB Mass Storage Device."
But this does not help, even like this with 1kOhm it's still recognized as audio device:
Anyway, thank you dastels for trying to help me that fast! 👍

Re: Audio FX 16MB recognized as usb sound device, not as flash
The problem seems to be (as I understand it) that some chips came with bad firmware. Replacing the firmware isn't so easy, and it's closed source so there little/no visibility into what's going on.
UG is the trigger-pin/UART-control selector. Connect to ground to control the decoder via serial commands. Also when it's grounded the USB capability is disabled.

Ok, but searching this forum show that the problem exists for at least 5 years... 🤔
Hm, with UG grounded, mine is still showing up as an audio device on Linux and Windows (both rebooted), it changed nothing.
I've sent the mail for a quick replacement and will try it again, I have no time to built and program a setup with Digispark+DFPlayer and hoped that the latency would be shorter with the Audio FX Board due to its integrated flash memory.

Wow, 17mins after sending the request for the replacement, I received an answer and ordered four new boards!
That is great customer support, thank you!
