flakey button

by ihav2p on Sun Feb 17, 2008 6:29 pm

hello my kit is up and running, with only a tiny problem now. the run stop button is a bit flakey. when i leave a pattern running for 2 measures or so, i really need to hold the button for a long time to stop it. then when it stays off for awhile same thing. at any other times it is perfectly responsive. i checked the button legs, and i dont think there is a problem there, where should i look next? thanks for any help

its possible you damaged it while soldering (this is most likely)

hey phono thanks for the tip. i am a total newb, so be patient with me. but can it really be the switch? it works fine right on power up, and i can run it for awhile (like 3 min) before the switch starts showing problems. this is pretty consistent. if it were the switch wouldnt it always be inconsistent?

of course it could be something else, but start with the obvious and work back, you could try reflowing the joints on the dodgy switch to see if that helps.

Also those tact switches really arent expensive, so its probably easiest to replace and see if that helps. If not then you have a more serious problem and should look deeper.
