I'm looking for a suitable backup power for arduino (drawing 1A) which takes 5v from a supply and has battery backup. It only switches to battery if there the power supply is off. If power supply is on it uses it and does not draw from the battery. Is there any suitable product available at Adafruits. Does the following allow this:

You want to use a PowerBoost. It will do the automatic failover. You can use a PowerBoost 500C or a PowerBoost 1000C.

The difference is that the 1000C will change the battery faster. If you don't care about that, get the 500C. The 500C also comes in a shield version:
